Learning from Lord Krishna: How to Stay Positive Amidst Betrayal and Deceit
Betrayal and deceit are harsh realities of life, yet how we respond to them defines our strength and character. Lord Krishna, the divine strategist, philosopher, and guide in the Mahabharata, teaches us how to face these challenges with wisdom, resilience, and grace.
Learn to smile in every situation, because a true devotee of Krishna can never be defeated."
In the Mahabharata, Lord Krishna encountered numerous betrayals and political manipulations. Yet, he never let those circumstances shake his composure.
When someone deceives you, don't see it as the end of your journey. Instead, accept it as a painful but powerful teacher. Every experience—especially the tough ones—adds a layer to your strength and maturity. Remember, betrayal doesn't break you; it builds you—if you allow it.
Lord Krishna never held grudges. When Shishupala insulted him repeatedly—up to 100 times—Krishna forgave him every single time, as promised to his aunt. But when the threshold was crossed, Krishna acted decisively.
The lesson?
Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself for inner peace. However, it doesn’t mean you forget the lesson. Use the betrayal to understand people better and guard yourself wisely in the future. Forgive to free your heart, but learn to protect it too.
One of the most profound teachings of the Bhagavad Gita is:
"Karmanye Vadhikaraste, Ma Phaleshu Kadachana" – You have a right to perform your duties, but not to the fruits of your actions.
Even if others betray or mistreat you, do not get distracted from your own path. Let not their actions define your response or shake your commitment. Keep working towards your purpose and let karma take its course.
When betrayed, people often lose confidence in their ability to judge or trust. But Krishna teaches us: “Your worth is not decided by someone else's actions.”
Have faith in your inner strength and capabilities. Trust that just because someone failed to recognize your value doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Self-belief is your shield in times of deception.
Lord Krishna always stood on the side of dharma (righteousness). Even when faced with challenges, manipulation, and betrayal, he remained aligned with truth and moral duty.
When you're betrayed, there's a temptation to retaliate in bitterness or deceit. But Krishna teaches that real victory lies with those who stay rooted in values and righteousness—even when wronged.
Despite being in the middle of war, loss, betrayal, and destruction, Krishna remained situationally aware and emotionally stable. His smile was his strength, and his composure his power.
Learn from him to remain calm and balanced, even when life throws you off course. Don’t allow external betrayal to disturb your internal peace.
Even your enemies and betrayers have something to teach you. Krishna used every challenge as an opportunity to reveal deeper truths, test loyalties, and strengthen the Pandavas' resolve.
Ask yourself: What did I learn from this? Maybe it's about whom to trust, or perhaps about setting better boundaries. Each betrayal brings clarity—if you're willing to reflect.
Betrayal is painful, but it is not the end. Lord Krishna shows us that betrayal can be a stepping stone, not a stumbling block. Stay positive. Forgive, but never stop learning. Keep growing, keep walking your path, and never let the actions of others determine your self-worth or purpose.
